LinkedIn is looking to hire a Manager within the production Storage Engineering group. The Storage Engineering group defines the strategy for LinkedIn storage infrastructure and is responsible for architecture, design, tooling, and automation related to that.

The candidate will have wide latitude in making contributions in several areas. In this highly visible role, you will work with the various members of the engineering teams guiding technologies, product feature definitions, implementation and tradeoffs, and architecture definition. The candidate should have a strong technical background and experience leading medium-sized teams.

Responsibilities:
Manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of this infrastructure, which will require design, architecture, and coding.
Scale company’s infrastructure to handle massive data growth across the ecosystem.
Develop a long-term technology road map – The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing storage system design and consumption strategies.
Utilize communication skills in interacting with peer groups & drive technical presentations.
Maintain relationships with user groups, stay apprised of future projects, project growth, schedule activities, and be a trusted contact point.
Adapt to the ever-evolving industry; learn and scrutinize new technologies, and envision its possible application towards the LinkedIn mission.

Basic Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of relevant engineering work experience
– 1+ year(s) of management experience or 1+ year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training
– 3+ years of experience in leading large/complex projects design and development of distributed/clustered storage designs

Preferred Qualifications:
– 2+ years of experience in distributed/clustered storage designs
– 2+ years of experience in deploying, analyzing, and debugging storage networks
– 2+ years of experience in application-specific storage sub-system selection, design, and configuration (drives, controllers, interconnects)
– Experience leading cross-functional teams engaged in storage system design and deployment
– Strong written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management
– Effective project leadership abilities to plan, organize, and motivate others to achieve objectives within challenging timelines and situations of uncertainty
– Working knowledge of the Linux stack & Storage technologies e.g., K8, SAN, NAS, GPFS, Gluster, Ceph, Swift etc
– Experience with IP networking: IP addressing, switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, IPV6
