Role & Responsibilities

This full-time role will primarily be focused upon delivering CASS reporting and quality management information to tight deadlines with a view to automate and introduce efficiencies. The role will provide excellent exposure to BlackRock’s business and provide a great platform for the Associate to develop CASS subject matter knowledge. Tasks will include:

  • The ongoing review and management of client money records and bank accounts
  • Daily production of client money books and records and reconciliations within the mandatory timescales.
  • The ongoing management of CASS 8 mandate listing and records.
  • Completing & reviewing the monthly client money & asset return (“CMAR”) to be presented to the Head of CASS
  • Promptly escalate any exceptions and discrepancies in relation to any CASS reporting in-line with procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve queries and issues in collaboration with business stakeholders in a timely manner, escalating to management where required.
  • Analyse trends in errors and issues to find opportunities for process & control improvements.
  • Ensure issues are accurately documented, root cause is analysed and that appropriate remedial steps are clearly defined and assigned to mitigate risks.
  • Supporting all audit related activity, such as sourcing and interrogating audit sample requests as well as responding to queries from auditors
  • Deliver effective management information (“MI”) for business partners at various levels within the organisation
  • Support in organizing and minuting the CASS Governance Committee
  • Maintaining the BlackRock CASS risk & control framework.
  • Prepare and maintain procedures, processes and controls for the team.
  • Maintaining the firm’s CASS Resolution Packs (“CASS RP”) under CASS 10.
  • Producing and issuing client money statements each quarter under CASS 9.
  • Support management with project activity and continuous improvement initiatives where required.

Client Exp Operations Reporting team is part of Global Client Experience umbrella combines Client Reporting and Client Reporting Solutions services at scale. All teams play a role in delivering a better client outcome to ensure service is a true differentiator for BlackRock.

Reporting team is responsible for the preparation and delivery of sophisticated economic and financial analysis to a diverse client base. Portfolio performance, attribution and investment commentary as well as detailed risk analytics are provided to clients through formal periodic reporting and web delivery. In addition, Reporting Services is responsible for partnering with multiple upstream data providers ranging across Data & AI, Accounting, Performance and regional investment and product strategy teams.

  • Deliver a superior client experience via front-line client service to clients and related third parties, including understanding clients reporting needs, fielding and responding to client queries and the creation of accurate and meaningful reports.
  • Understand flow of client, market and fund information across BlackRock and external data providers
  • Facilitate bespoke and standard report creation through analyzing and researching client, market and fund data and related information

Analyst, Client Data Management

USWA COO Team is responsible for leading a range of strategic initiatives and for managing the internal planning for BlackRock’s US retail business.  Our group, reporting to the Head of US Retail, forms the “connective tissue” of BlackRock’s US retail business, coordinating functional areas within the business and interactions with the broader BlackRock organization, including business analytics and product.

Job Purpose/Background:

The USWA Client Data Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for maintaining and enhancing our robust data ecosystem, proactively and reactively addressing data process and quality issues, and serve as a key connection point between USWA and the Client Platform / Global Client Business (GCB) for everything related to client data, data quality, and ETL processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update client data repositories to ensure accuracy and completeness, focusing on timely onboarding, QA, and automation of priority 3rd-party data feeds for USWA.
  • Serve as initial point of contact to address client data-related QA issues and provide rapid response services, adhering to established SLAs for timeliness and quality.
  • Partner with ETL Developer, Client Data QA and Governance Associate to create data dictionaries and document ETL processes to minimize data gaps.
  • Help in the establishment of data quality goals, metrics, and monitoring and perform regular proactive audits to ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with ETL and data cataloging tools (e.g., DataHub, great expectations, Apache Airflow, dbt)
  • Working knowledge of Python programming language including libraries for data structures, reporting templates etc.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake) and associated ETL processes.
  • Strong understanding of data quality principles and practices.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
