The Community You Will Join:

The Finance Technology team manages a complex and innovative ecosystem of products and applications, and is responsible for driving key outcomes for all stakeholders who rely on Airbnb’s Financial Information. Some of these include:

  • Ensure taxes are charged, collected, remitted and reported correctly
  • Manage all things cash (reconciliation, hedging, treasury)
  • Ensure every transaction is accounted correctly and ready for audit and investor reporting
  • Provide critical data and metrics
  • Provide top-to-bottom insurance protection for guests and hosts
  • Provide critical enterprise applications to employees (e.g., ERP, Equity)

Airbnb is constantly evolving and the various platforms within FinTech (Tax Platform, Data Platform) work in partnership with the business teams to help deliver new and exciting initiatives. FinTech is a critical part of the growth of Airbnb’s service offerings.

Finance Technology is beginning a journey to rethink and re-architect how we can solve problems of our broader stakeholders – guests, hosts and jurisdictions. This team owns product domains that span indirect taxes (value added taxes, transient occupancy), direct taxes (tax withholding), invoices, tax id collection, critical data assets (compliance reporting, increasing supply, improving internal execution, providing management reporting). Some of the problems we are trying to solve:

  • Develop a global taxpayer information product to collect and validate tax identifiers from all countries where Airbnb operates with a high-quality user experience
  • Develop a robust invoicing platform, including advanced electronic invoice capabilities, to deliver tax invoices to our host and guest communities
  • Stabilize the end-to-end tax quotation flow, from data inputs to accurate quotes
  • Develop a world-class Tax Hub for our community to manage taxes collected, taxpayer information, and tax documents necessary for operating their businesses
  • Develop Enterprise Data Assets to solve the needs of various stakeholders (finance, company, governments, sales etc.)

Your Expertise:

  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • Experience with consumer internet products or marketplaces
  • Experience building/leading/developing/working on platform products – building products that can be leveraged by a variety of business customers (tax, financial, payments, compliance or risk related products is a plus)
  • Ability to quickly absorb technical concepts and communicate them to a non-technical audience
  • Experienced in both building custom solutions and launching integrations with 3rd party products and technologies

How We’ll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Media Lead, North America (US & CA)

You will be joining a team at Airbnb that is driven through collaboration; filled with brilliant and experienced minds across product, brand, design, creative, and performance.  The beauty of this role is that the media discipline serves as a facilitator of cross-functional integration. It’s entrepreneurial, fast paced, and for the right person the right mix of exhilarating and challenging.

As the Media Lead for North America (US & CA), you will manage our regional relationships with our global media agencies of record and work with the marketing and cross-functional teams based throughout the region to ensure cohesive regional media strategies focused around internally-aligned go-to-market approaches. This role requires close collaboration with teams across Airbnb, including Regional Brand Marketing, Growth Marketing, Measurement & Analytics, Consumer Insights, FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis), Data Science, Social and Corporate Communications teams.

  • You will Plan and oversee all media strategies and spend including digital, TV, social, podcasts, ooh, cinema, and direct marketing initiatives. Lead media strategies to drive brand behaviors through all platforms with emphasis in leading integrated and social innovation in the areas of storytelling, branding, marketing, product, and partnerships.
  • Lead development of global campaigns from connections strategy through campaign execution and reporting. Areas of focus include connections planning, media mix development, media planning & buying, performance measurement, budget management, online tracking, buy evaluation, and optimization.
  • Integrate efforts across cross-functional stakeholders; including global marketing, local business needs, resourcing, and media partners.
  • Support budget and strategy planning with global teams, working closely with Financial Planning (FP&A) and Marketing Leadership.

Your Expertise:

  • 12+ years experience at digital, advertising or media agencies and/or experience managing media at a client business — preferably in the consumer internet space in travel, design, technology, or lifestyle brands.
  • Ability to lead plan development from beginning to end with little oversight. You’ll demonstrate your ability to think holistically but also ensure the details are addressed.

SEM Marketing Lead Experiences & Services

The Growth Marketing team at Airbnb is at the intersection of marketing, engineering and data science. Our work is imperative to driving the top line of the entire company. As a Growth Marketing Lead, Pilots, you will play a critical role in identifying new channels and avenues for business growth at Airbnb, as well as incubating and managing new growth programs from concept to execution.  Your work will be critical to driving growth in our community of guests and Hosts, with a particular focus on global expansion and new products and services.

The Difference You Will Make:

You will be responsible for end-to-end execution of both new and existing SEM growth initiatives at Airbnb for our Experiences & Services businesses. Strategy alignment,  capturing business requirements, planning, delivery, and evaluation of performance against KPIs. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Brand and Creative to set and exceed aggressive KPI targets.

A Typical Week: 

  • Develop and maintain a roadmap of new growth/marketing initiatives at Airbnb, with a focus on both global and regional efforts.

  • Solid track record of successfully managing and executing large-scale SEM campaigns and cross-functional projects.
  • Deep understanding of the technical aspects of SEM: marketing tech stack, data pipelines, tracking, testing, analytics, etc.
  • Comfortable with Excel (functions, pivots, etc.), and proficient with writing and executing SQL queries.

Staff Software Engineer, Trust Platform

Everyone at Airbnb thinks about trust, but our team obsesses over it daily. The Trust team is responsible for protecting our community and platform from fraud while also ensuring our hosts, guests, homes, and experiences meet our high standards. Trust Platform is responsible for foundational systems that power the detection and mitigation of fraud at scale across Airbnb, such as the rules engine, friction framework, and the vendor API gateway, and supports one of the highest throughput systems across the company. The team works closely with the Trust defense teams to tackle the changing landscape of fraud attacks, and build platform features to enable Trust product teams to quickly build frictions, rules, and enforcement tools for agents.

The Difference You Will Make:

As part of the Trust Engineering team, you will be in charge of designing large scale systems to detect and mitigate fraud across our entire platform. You will be deeply involved in building highly available and real-time risk detection services in close collaboration with product, data science and operations teams to understand ever evolving attack vectors and to make Airbnb the most safe and trusted community. There are still many unsolved problems to tackle in both online and offline risk, and we’re looking for talented engineers to solve these challenges with us.

  • Design, implement, and operate resilient and scalable distributed systems
  • Build and evolve platform capabilities to tackle the changing landscape of fraud attacks by collaborating with engineering teams in Airbnb’s Trust, Payment and CSP organizations.
  • Provide critical input in Trust Platform’s team roadmap and technical direction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Trust Platform services and drive their implementation.
  • Mentor other engineers in developing their technical and collaboration skills

Your Expertise:

  • 10+ years of industry engineering experience.
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Hands on experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • Experience with service-oriented architectures and developing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java/Ruby/Kotlin etc). Familiarity with Scala is a plus.
  • Experience with test driven development, familiar with A/B testing, incremental delivery and deployment.
  • Experience with platform architecture patterns and best practices.  Experience with building and leading infrastructure is a plus.
  • Experience with the Trust and Risk domain is a plus.
