Team Overview
Applied Materials’ Common Systems Software Department is searching for an intern to join our team in summer 2025! Our department develops the software for the control system of our products, which includes the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps, flow controllers and sensors. Our work includes creating algorithms to optimize material deposition and removal on an atomic scale, user interface design, data collection, storage and analysis, remote access and security.
The position will entail the following:
Designs and develops code for software projects as directed. Assists in troubleshooting a variety of moderately difficult software problems Creates and executes test plans on simulators, test benches or the lab Develops software documentation Interacts and works closely with the team
Requirements
- Student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
- Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
- Good written and oral communication skills

- Proficiency and experience in C++ is required

Compensation
$32 -34 per hour
The rate offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Material Coordinator/Handler III – (O3)
Investigates customer inquiries, cycle count discrepancies and non-conformances. Performs cycle count to verify and maintain inventory. Locates, audits, and transfers kits or materials as required in preparation for shipment.
Receives parts and updates inventory records or shortage reports; may perform transactions in Oracle, SAP, or other inventory systems. Verifies vendor delivery before accepting parts and/or inventory. May monitor, update and maintain shortage reports including review of work orders.
Coordinates processing of non-conformances. Regulates and prepares material for delivery to the cleanroom environment.
Under direction from management, prevents accumulation of excess material. Moves stock as required. In a manufacturing environment, may replenish empty line-side bins and/or regulate material movement to the manufacturing floor.
Reviews M.R.P. for upcoming work order, project status, and W.I.P. Expedites receipt of materials from vendors/suppliers.
Trains / certifies other Material Coordinators as required. Follows documented business processes. Under direction from supervisor, purges stock of excess and obsolete material. Takes action necessary to rework, transfer, or scrap these items.
Operates powered industrial vehicles as assigned; may operate pallet jack, electric pallet jack and/or forklift. May drive a van or truck if necessary, or operate overhead crane. Adheres to all safety standards and protocols; participates in addressing safety concerns.
Other Requirements: This is a physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, the use of hand and power tools, and driving or operating heavy machinery including forklifts.
Additionally, because this position may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.

Primary Responsibilities of this specific role will be based in the Autostore. Any individual applying should expect to be trained and then perform in multiple areas including Pick, Detrash, Marry Up, Shipping, and Conveyors. Key Responsibilities
- Utilizes routine work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, parts and wire lists, written and/or verbal instructions to build, repair and/or test electrical, electro-mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.
- Performs electro-mechanical assembly operations, troubleshooting and repair. Identifies and corrects errors.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Program Manage service product development from Initiation to Release
- Initiation (PG1): Lead HVP (High Value Problem) discovery through VOC (Voice of Customer) & FSO. Propose and select appropriate solutions based on ROI estimates. Lead team to assess Market Opportunity and select beta sites.
- Validation (PG3): Chair regular Core Team meetings to drive design & development of proposed solutions through internal SBU sensor development or cross-functional teams (OCE, DT/AIx, FV, BU). Be accountable for successful beta demonstration by working with FSO, FSO Focals, AGS Focals responsible for the beta site.
- Release (PG5): Drive creation of Marketing Collateral to train sales and BD on new Service Product; Field Training (AGU courses) and Procedures for CE’s, PSE’s that will support the Contract enabled by the Service Product. Report on actual Service revenue generated by the new Service Product vs. what was forecast.
- MPR (Monthly Product Reviews): provide status updates and help needed to AGS executives throughout the Phase Gate release cycle.
Closely work with Equipment BU NPI PDP teams to co-develop and integrate AGS service products.
- Work with Business Unit on their NPIs (New Product Introductions) and Legacy tools to prepare and embed service product offerings.
- Spearhead AIx growth engine to develop new capability and enable service product offers.
Leads the execution teams on service capability evaluation and demos at customers site, through sPDP (service Product Development Process), drives SOW and demo timeline/owners.
