Vice President, Transfer Agency Oversight (Alternative Products)

The Americas Transfer Agency Oversight Team is responsible for coordinating multiple transfer agents servicing our Mutual Funds, ETFs, Closed End Funds, Registered Alternatives, Money Markets and 529 product suites. Our scope includes daily operational support of our portfolio managers cashflows, monitoring the transfer agent’s service levels, and development of new operating models and technology with the transfer agents in support of new and innovative product offerings. We partner closely with intermediary operations teams, transfer agents, vendors, as well as internal teams such as the Product Groups, Legal, Fund Administration, Risk and Compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Specialize in all aspects of a designated set of alternative investments, including tender offer funds, interval funds, REIT funds, and business development companies.
- Lead a team supporting Registered Alternative funds.
- Partner with transfer agents, intermediary partners, technology teams, sales, and relationship teams to ensure a superior client experience.
- Maintain a robust control environment by proactively analyzing errors and issues to see opportunities for process improvement at the transfer agents or within BlackRock and implement corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Understand the product offerings and successfully deliver outstanding client service.
- Understand operational workflow of Alternative products.
- Knowledge of DTCC/NSCC Mutual fund processing and AIP processing.
- Conduct on-site operational visits (Health checks) with key transfer agents supporting BlackRock products.
- Participate in the agreement process with Contracts and Admin team to ensure operational capabilities for all supported products.
- Maintain a team environment passionate about risk and controls.
- Engage transfer agents and internal oversight teams to improve services and resolve open issues affecting intermediaries.
- Own the build out of operational support for new products.
- Ability to analyze new business requirements, and how to implement them within Transfer Agent Vendor and internally at BlackRock.
- Use a proactive approach to continuous process improvements, collaborating across teams and functions and purposefully drive improvements and adoption of changes.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
- A comprehensive understanding of sophisticated financial products, including alternative investments.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience in the asset management industry.
- A deep understanding of intermediary and transfer agency operations, including AIP processing.
- Prioritize relationship management skills – the ability to work with senior leadership, key clients, and internal teams.
- Seek opportunities for enhancements or service initiatives and bring to completion.
- Possess advanced Excel skills, including ability to write macros.
- Maintain strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Work both independently and in a group environment.
- Be detail-orientated as well as possess a sense of ownership.

Associate, Quantitative Engineer
As a researcher, you will collaborate with a distributed team of outstanding academics, engineers, and investment professionals to develop methodologies for products solving a corporate-wide set of client, investor, and operational problems. Products developed often use multiple subject areas, including statistics, machine learning, and optimization, and combine original methods with pioneering solutions available in industry and academia. You will be responsible for the entire research lifecycle, from initial research and prototyping, to iterating on the system methodology, to detailing the final product and clearing internal review processes.
Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into well-scoped technical projects.
- Efficiently work well with large and sophisticated datasets to evaluate technical methodologies.
- Rapidly prototype technical solutions implementing groundbreaking tools from optimization and machine learning.
- Produce technical white papers and make clear technical presentations to senior management.
- Work with engineers and stakeholders to build productionalized solutions that are reliable, scalable, and operate in compliance with firm-wide processes.
Qualifications
- Either a PhD in a quantitative subject area (computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, engineering, or related field) with 3+ years of professional experiences or
- An MS degree in a quantitative field plus 5+ years of professional experience in optimization, machine learning, statistics, exploratory data analysis, and other aspects of the data science process
- Strong familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Julia, or R. Prefer Python as it is the language for most of the projects.
- The candidates would expect to be teched in following skills:

- Ability to reason a solution given a business problem.
- Strong theoretical background in and practical experience using optimization, statistical techniques, and machine learning, preferably shown through academic publications or open-source codebases.

CorePM Portfolio Manager (Systematic Active Equity) | Associate / Vice President
Systematic Active Equity (SAE) is the quantitative equity investment group with BlackRock. We invest our client assets (approximately $150bn) using quantitative insights captured in a scalable and repeatable process. SAE is a pioneer and thought leader in the quantitative equity investment industry and has consistently achieved client investment goals across global equity markets for over 30 years. Our clients include corporate pension plans, public pension plans, central banks, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors.
We are seeking a portfolio manager to complement our Core PM team. SAE Core PM team members are responsible for the array of portfolio implementation and management responsibilities described below across our Developed and Emerging Market portfolios, with an emphasis on adhering to effective, risk-controlled, and consistent processes. Team members also support on-going efforts to improve the SAE portfolio management platform as well as contribute to the research process and commercial projects.
This role has considerable scope for the right individual to have an impact on the success of the team and broader SAE business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage portfolio cash flows including subscriptions, redemptions and equitizations
- Manage portfolio FX exposures
- Manage derivative lifecycle events for futures, TRS, FX forwards, and options
- Manage daily processes and rebalance activity for active ETFs and other portfolios
- Rebalance futures, FX overlay and portable alpha strategies
- Ensure portfolios remain in compliance with their investment guidelines
- Monitor, submit elections, and ensure proper processing of corporate actions
- Deliver operational excellence and foster a culture of investment risk control and compliance
- Work alongside SAE Portfolio Management, Product Strategy and Research, and Business Management teams to execute key commercial initiatives and on-board new products, mandates and clients
- Partner with BlackRock business partners to drive system enhancements, and investment and trading process improvements
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. computer science, engineering, physics, math, finance, or economics)
- 2+ years in a portfolio management-related or trading role, preferably with equities, futures, and FX experience
- Knowledge of Aladdin; programming skills in Python, MATLAB or other languages or tools are desirable
- Knowledge of iShares and ETF portfolio management is a plus
- Attention to detail, with a desire to work across a wide range of portfolio types and activities
- Interpersonal skills that align with and contribute to a culture of teamwork and constant learning
For California only the salary range for this position is $125,000 – $209,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. Aladdin Business, Strategic Relationship Manager, Associate
We are seeking an Aladdin Strategic Relationship Manager to work closely with Aladdin clients to be their trusted consultant, problem solver, and business partner – and to take full advantage of Aladdin.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own relationships with client teams including senior management to understand their business objectives and needs and help them use Aladdin expertise to achieve their firm’s goals.
- Support new revenue opportunities with existing clients
- Accountable for a piece of a large client or several small clients, including applying best practices for client management, account planning, managing CRM content
