Team Overview:

The Fund Distributor Services team (FD Services) is responsible for servicing intermediary relationships which includes US Mutual Funds, Offshore Mutual Funds, Registered Alternative Funds and 529 product suites. Our scope includes daily operational support for the intermediaries and internal business partners in support of the products. We partner closely with intermediary operations teams, transfer agents, vendors, as well as internal teams such as the Relationship Managers, Legal and Compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Registered Alternative Products and operational technology platform and process
  • Collaborate closely with transfer agents, sales, and relationship groups to achieve a superior client experience
  • Resolve issues and implement changes to processes as needed
  • Efficiently onboard new custodians and intermediaries, and serve as a key stakeholder in the onboarding of new share classes and products at both Transfer Agents (TA) and intermediaries
  • Promptly resolve subscription and new account rejections
  • Actively participate in agreement reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Manage daily workflow effectively through email and phone communications
  • Regularly review and update fund documentation to maintain accuracy
  • Issue intermediary communications, including back-office notifications and annual calendars
  • Develop positive relationships with the Transfer Agent and internal oversight team to enhance services and resolve open issues affecting intermediaries
  • Take a proactive approach to operational improvements and risk management, collaborating across teams and functions to drive improvements and adoption of changes
  • Take ownership and accountability for solving issues and driving projects to successful completion

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in financial services with exposure to operational and client service functions preferred
  • Experience with Alternative Funds a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance or accounting preferred
  • Skilled in developing and collaborating working relationships with key business partners
  • Strong, effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Seek opportunities for improvements or service initiatives and bring to completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Excel knowledge
  • Strong dedication to service excellence with the analytical ability to synthesize information and summarize issues

Director, Retail Alternatives Contracts (JD required)

Technology & Operations handles a breadth of services that impact the product and trade lifecycle as well as BlackRock’s client and employee experience. Tech & Ops provides solutions to evolving challenges faced by clients, employees and the firm.

Team Overview

The Contracting team is responsible for driving the successful completion of contract negotiations in support of the US open-end mutual fund, Retail Alternatives and Liquidity products lines. We manage the end-to end- contract lifecycle including facilitation of initial due diligence approvals, contract negotiations, contract execution and storage. Our scope includes new contractual arrangements and amendments to existing arrangements in the US Wealth Advisory, Cash Management and Retirement Group business channels. We work closely with our business partners and internal teams to negotiate contracts resulting in the best possible commercial outcomes for our clients while ensuring compliance with BlackRock’s regulatory and fiduciary obligations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Senior contracting lawyer responsible for supporting the Retail Alternatives business line, including:
  • Contract negotiation based on BlackRock’s template or client forms of agreement
  • Assessment of legal, business and operational risks for escalation to impacted stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Legal Department, Compliance and business on new product launches that require distribution contracts
  • Serve as point person for business partners for all requests, prioritization, escalations and ad hoc queries
  • Ensure that contractual documentation is executed and filed in compliance with internal procedural and regulatory/recordkeeping requirements
  • Potential to lead adoption of new business lines, including:
  • Assess and implement new processes, approval workflows and performance metrics
  • Analyze and upgrade contract templates, negotiation playbook and approval framework
  • Create/update applicable policies
  • Train contracting team members

Experience/Qualifications

  • 10+ years of cumulative work experience in legal contract negotiation in the financial services industry
  • Proven ability to draft, analyze and negotiate legal contracts across the complexity spectrum (e.g., from template -based contracts to bespoke drafting)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills that can be modified based on one’s audience (e.g., Relationship Manager, Legal Department, Client)
  • Motivated by steep learning curves and highly detail-oriented
  • J.D. is required
  • Familiarity with mutual funds and alternatives products and related regulations
  • Change management experience would be helpful

Director, Corporate Communications

An important part of BlackRock’s Corporate Affairs function, the Global Corporate Communications team leads all internal and external communications that advance our purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. The team is responsible for driving compelling communications and stakeholder engagement strategies that enhance our culture, drive growth, strengthen our reputation, and build our brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with senior executives, business leaders, marketing, public policy, and other members of the Corporate Communications team to develop proactive, multi-channel communications campaigns that leverage storytelling to drive growth into our whole portfolio solutions (e.g., Models, OCIO) and strategies (e.g., LifePath Paycheck).
  • Develop narratives to highlight our “whole portfolio” capabilities, positioning BlackRock’s expertise in portfolio construction and as a key partner to deliver comprehensive solutions across various asset classes.
  • Partner with select clients on joint announcements, leading on the communications strategy, key messaging and activation across multiple channels
  • Drive a long-term, proactive thought leadership campaign that elevates our brand as a leader in retirement, in partnership with Global Corporate Affairs, marketing and businesses across the firm.
  • Create and drive communications strategies for flagship research studies (e.g., Global Insurance Survey, Read on Retirement) with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences, (institutional/wealth/consumer).
  • Manage and develop other members of the Corporate Communications team as they execute proactive communications to drive commercial outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with top-tier business/financial and trade media, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of communications experience in financial services, ideally with experience in model portfolios, retirement solutions and wealth.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the asset management industry, capital markets, multi-asset investment products across retirement solutions and wealth management.
  • Proven ability to manage a team and develop talent.
  • Experience engaging with senior executives; navigating complex, global organizations; and fostering collaborative decision-making among senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional media relations capabilities and the ability to translate complex topics to simple, compelling narratives.
  • Track record of developing strategic, impactful communications plans across earned, owned, and paid that align with business priorities.
  • Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability in working across different regions and times zones, particularly Europe and APAC to drive global communications strategies and activations.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
