Motion Design Director, VP – Marketing

The Motion Design Director will lead the design, creative development and execution of motion design across the Blackstone brand. In this role, you’ll not only set the vision for motion design and animation but also guide the end-to-end execution of these elements, crafting innovative and engaging experiences that bring Blackstone’s messaging to life. You’ll work closely with internal teams and video partners to develop visually compelling motion graphics, transitions, and animations that align with our brand’s messaging, values, and objectives. Your expertise will help transform complex financial concepts into visually digestible and engaging experiences for our audience.

 

This is a manager/individual contributor role, where you’ll lead the creative direction while also being hands-on in executing motion design at a fast pace. You’ll be responsible for leading the creation and maintenance of on-screen animations, transition styles, and other dynamic motion design elements that ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience. We’re looking for a candidate with an abundance of positivity, empathy, and kindness, who is effective in both creative leadership and collaborative efforts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set and drive the creative vision for Blackstone’s motion design system
  • Work closely with video producers, editors, designers, marketers, and stakeholders to ensure motion graphics are in line with brand guidelines and messaging
  • Lead the conceptualization and execution of animation styles, transitions, infographics, and other dynamic visual elements that simplify and communicate financial concepts in a compelling way
  • Ensure that all motion design adheres to brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent and high-quality visual identity across assets
  • Balance visionary leadership with hands-on execution, bringing world-class experiences to life within established design principles
  • Provide creative direction throughout the video production process, from storyboarding to final edits, ensuring smooth integration of motion graphics
  • Stay current on the latest trends in motion design, animation techniques, and relevant technology to evolve the visual direction and enhance the effectiveness of video content
  • Guide and mentor designers, providing constructive feedback, fostering creative growth, and maintaining a collaborative team culture

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (8+ years) as a Motion Designer, Motion Director, or similar role
  • Experience guiding and motivating teams of motion designers, developing projects from conception to handoff
  • In-depth knowledge of all steps required in the creative process, including effectively and efficiently staffing projects, providing communication and creative direction, and giving timely and helpful feedback to improve creative solutions
  • Strong design skills with high attention to detail and the ability to guide, evaluate and redirect work to achieve creative excellence
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and negotiate creative input
  • Capable of thriving under pressure, fostering optimism, and navigating ambiguity
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing expertise in motion graphics, animation, and video production
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Cinema 4D, etc.)
  • Ability to design and implement advanced motion elements, including transitions, visual effects, and 2D/3D animations
  • Strong understanding of how motion design can simplify complex financial information

  • Experience with financial products or services is a plus, but not required

Expected annual base salary range:

 

$150,000 – $225,000

 

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual’s experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Event Content Strategist, VP – Corporate Affairs

Blackstone has considerable convening power and hosts sizable internal and external events each year. The role sits on the firm’s Marketing team and co-reports into the Content Strategy & Events teams.

 

The role will lead content design and implementation for the firm’s signature events, which engage key audiences, such as clients and portfolio company leadership. The individual hired will coordinate with internal stakeholders across our business units, investor relations and corporate groups to craft differentiated, thought-provoking agendas and content. They will help select and invite outside speakers and deliver best-in-class experiences for event attendees. They will develop strategies to ensure that content and insights engage audiences beyond those in attendance.

 

Blackstone places a premium on unique events that offer attendees actionable take-aways and usable insights.

 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Event Content Strategy: Develop comprehensive event strategies that that align with Blackstone’s brand and event goals.
  • Partner: Serve as an important bridge across the Content and Events teams. Additionally, coordinate closely with other internal partners across: Blackstone business units, Investor Relations, other corporate groups, Public Affairs and Marketing (including Design Studio, Video Production, and Digital teams).
  • Content Development: Craft event themes, with compelling agendas and content across sessions. Research competitive landscape to ensure agenda is differentiated. Ensure content is geared toward providing actionable take-aways and insights.
  • Agenda Management: Ensure agenda lends itself to smooth event flow. Oversee strategy around multimedia components.
  • Speaker Selection & Recruitment: Leveraging personal network, in addition to Blackstone’s, to identify and recruit high-caliber speakers and moderators. Assist with speaker/moderator prep and engagement.

 

Qualifications:

  • 7 + years of experience in event content planning, specifically high-end conferences
  • Understanding of financial services industry
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects with attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree

Public Affairs, Analyst – Corporate Affairs

Public Affairs is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s brand, communications to internal and external stakeholders, and developing the strategy for media relations.

The Public Affairs Analyst will support public relations efforts for senior executives, drive internal communications initiatives, and contribute to key firmwide communications projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications Planning: Support planning efforts related to media interviews, conferences, priority travel, firm milestones, and other high-visibility engagements. Assist the broader Public Affairs team during critical communications moments, particularly those involving senior executives (e.g., quarterly earnings, major announcements, or firm milestones).
  • Messaging Support: Draft press releases, ensuring consistency and clarity across all communications.
  • Briefing and Preparation: Contribute to the executive briefing process, including ownership of briefing materials for media interviews and public-facing engagements, working closely with stakeholders across Public Affairs and Blackstone business units.
  • Media Monitoring: Collaborate with the broader Public Affairs team to monitor media coverage and provide insights to executives.
  • Internal Communications: Support the firm’s internal communications approach and craft clear, engaging messaging for company-wide updates, announcements, and events.
  • Event Coordination: Staff executives for select interviews and events, coordinating with internal Blackstone groups and external parties on preparation, follow-up, and review processes (e.g., legal and stakeholder approvals).
