We are looking for a Lead Contracts as part of our Legal function of Cairn Oil & Gas.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Extensive experience of legal and contracts management in the Indian and international contracts preferably in Oil field contracts and EPCs
  • Supporting at RPF reviewing and reviewing and drafting of contracts proposal etc. preferably for oil field contracts and other related contracts and EPCs
  • Negotiating and finalizing contract terms with bidders
  • Providing legal advice to various stakeholders on contractual matters
  • Providing support to oil and gas marketing team on gas sales and crude sales
  • Drafting and vetting of various communications with contractors
  • Providing support in contractual dispute management

Desired Attributes:

  • 7+ years of post-qualification experience in the energy, construction segment with an emphasis on legal and contracts management
  • An LL.B. degree from a reputed Indian university

Operations Geologist

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to and implementation of Cairn and national statutory HSE standards, ensuring full conformance with procedures and best practices.
  • Active participation and contribution in all stages of Development well planning with cross-functional teams, including:
  • Pre-drill geomechanical / PPFG and wellbore stability (WBS) studies, including data integration, analysis and modelling to support well design and drilling optimization.
  • Contribution to well/campaign formation evaluation/data acquisition planning and wellsite services Scope of Works with emphasis on contracted geological services deployment and optimized data delivery.
  • Support for development of relevant geosteering models with Asset and Contractor specialists.
  • Arrange call-out and confirm contractor mobilisation for all geological personnel and equipment services to wellsite, including arrangements for equipment inspections and personnel vetting where required.

During drilling operations:

  • Providing interpretation and validation by continuous pro-active data quality control of geological data whilst drilling to optimise operations and limit financial exposure.
  • Continuous support for geosteering and optimised well placement to access greater well productivity.
  • Ensuring seamless data acquisition reporting and data transfer to approved Cairn, JV and Regulatory stakeholders and databases.
  • Offering advice with real time decision-making based on data inputs and well conditions.
  • Support any operational emergency requiring operations geology inputs.
  • Realtime updating of Cairn geological operations lessons-learned database.

Post-well activities will include:

  • Responsibility for incoming G&G physical (cutting samples, full-bore cores / rotary SWC’s and downhole fluid samples) and digital data inventory and forward to relevant Cairn and Regulator Information Management teams.
  • Preparation of WCR (Well Completion Reports) including any geological composite log for delivery to Company database and regulatory authorities within the statutory deadlines.
  • Technical certification of all G&G service provider invoices ensuring delivery of agreed contractual services whilst noting any discrepancies / non-provision of service.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams in updating all relevant subsurface geological and geomechanical models.
  • Arranging for and support of Contractor Service Quality Meeting’s (SQM) to review operational performance, lessons learned and continuous service improvement for future work.
  • Support studies to enhance future operational efficiency in a safe, cost-effective manner.

Additional duties will include:

  • Occasional visits to Cairn wellsite drilling locations and off-site sample/core storage facilities.
  • Mentoring of junior team members.

Qualification & Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Geology or suitable Geoscience subject.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant operations geology experience with an established Operator, preferably including demonstrable onshore and offshore activity.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, Techlog (SLB), Jewel Suite (Baker Hughes) software is highly advantageous. Knowledge of other PPFG/geomechanics modelling software is helpful.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels, including ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to non-specialists when required.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed and reasoned decisions in collaboration with cross-functional team members.
  • Well versed with current formation evaluation tools, technologies and interpretation technologies of such data acquired.
  • Sound knowledge of PPFG and Geomechanical evaluation and real time decision-making based on well conditions and ongoing data acquisition.

The role key responsibility is to ensure our company adheres to legal standards with respect to statutory compliance (labour laws) and in-house policies. Responsible for enforcing labour regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters to ensure the organizational vision of achieving 100% compliances.

Key accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Check and ensure the contractors are adhering to statutory obligations. Conduct periodical audits to achieve better compliance scores and compliance adherence.

  • Responsible for handling Time Office and Attendance Management systems from Rajasthan for all Cairn locations.
  • Partnering with Access Control team for efficient and single point access control including the attendance monitoring
  • Responsible for the maintenance and timely submission of all statutory registers/returns/ reports / Challans (payments) to relevant statutory authorities under various applicable laws on time
  • To ensure all documentation is accurately completed in the case of a LTI, under various applicable laws and related statutory authorities.
  • Exposure in handling cases under Industrial Dispute, PF, ESI, and various labour laws.
  • Liaison expertise, Letter writing and coordination skills among the team, business partners, govt. authorities, client etc.

The Opportunity

Job responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and monitoring the evolving taxation scenario in the Oil & Gas Industries.
