Job Summary
The Manager Internal Controls is a leader in assessing key financial controls supporting CSX’s external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act and any relevant external auditor requirements. The role provides guidance to audit team members to perform specific audit procedures. To perform this work, this role will regularly interact with CSX management up to and including the Vice President level as well as with external parties (e.g., external auditors, contractors, etc.). The work requires reviewing walkthrough and testing documentation, analyzing exceptions, and effectively communicating observations and conclusions to the Director of Internal Controls and management.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities
•    Lead the execution of SOX assessment and scoping activities to ensure proper risk identification, process mapping and controls linkage for a sustainable internal control framework.
•    Develop risk-based audit procedures and lead walkthroughs to evaluate the design and effectiveness of business processes, internal controls and related technologies while assessing for potential fraud risk. Communicate to management audit scope and objectives and review the results of procedures performed.
•    Review appropriate audit evidence and work to support conclusions. Utilize various data analytics tools and techniques to enhance efficiency, coverage, and value of audit activities. Manage assigned staff auditor to meet defined project objectives and timelines.
•    During audit wrap-up and reporting, identify, research, and document issues and provide insights and recommendations to management. Draft audit observations to management.
•    Provide direct assessments of team members performance to Director as well as providing coaching to team members as necessary.
•    Participate in cross-functional teams and initiatives to continuously improve departmental processes, systems, and talent training.

Minimum Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s Degree/4-year Degree from an accredited institution required in Accounting, Finance, or Business
•    5 or more years of experience in Audit, SOX or related accounting field
•    Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

•    5 or more years of experience in public accounting or internal audit at a publicly traded company

Mechanical – Carman – Chattanooga, TN

Job Summary
Build, inspect and repair rail cars.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Weld and paint cars and locomotives
  • Cut metal, sandblast, replace doors and general car construction
  • Inspect car components for compliance with FRA, Association of American Railroads (AAR) and CSX standards
  • Identify or analyze defective components and indicate the necessary corrective action
  • Inspect the securement of lading in open top or flat cars for compliance with AAR rules and measure high/wide loads to ensure railway line clearance
  • Inspect and salvage parts from dismantled and/or scrapped cars
  • Inspect and apply end-of-train device and perform airbrake tests
  • Clean, lubricate and maintain tie-down devices and other special equipment on railroad cars
  • Remove and replace couplers, draft gears and yokes
  • Inspect, replace and/or repair gaskets, air hose, train line, bulkhead and other interior load restraining equipment, steel sections such as side sheets, crossbearers, crossties and underframing
  • Paint cars and car components
  • Build and/or repair components such as freight doors, wooden floors or interior walls
  • Fabricate large jigs and fixtures and use them to assemble parts on car

Training
You will attend paid training, which could be out of town. CSX will pay for travel and lodging as required by collective bargaining agreement.

Freight Conductor – Syracuse, NY

Job Description

A Freight Conductor’s primary responsibility is to safely coordinate train crews on a freight train, place rail cars to facilitate loading and unloading, and makeup/breakdown trains in a rail yard, customer facility or similar locations. To know more of what a day-in-the-life looks like for a conductor, please click to see a video here.

New hire conductors will be eligible to receive retention bonuses upon completion of their first and second year of service from date of promotion/qualification.  The minimum amount to expect is $3000 after 1 year, and $2000 after year 2, but may be greater based on work location and is subject to the terms of the applicable direct hire agreement.

Note: You must pass a drug test (hair follicle and urine), medical exam, and background check to be hired into this role.

Must live within or be willing to relocate within 75 miles of posted location. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Responsibilities

  •  Projected first year earnings: $97,185
  • Training rate while in Atlanta: $1,228.78 weekly
  • On-the-job (OJT) training Rate: $1,474.53 weekly
  • After OJT, guaranteed extra-board pay of $1,215.26 weekly
  • The average earnings for new hire conductors in 2023 was $97,185 but could potentially be more with overtime opportunities.

NMAD Bonus:

  • 1st year – $5,569.22 cash payment
  • 2nd year – $3,712.81 cash payment

You are expected to attend five weeks of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center (ATC) in Atlanta, GA. Training includes a combination of classroom and computer-based learning, hands-on simulations, and physical competencies. New hires must maintain an 85% passing rate on quizzes and tests to remain in training. Failure to maintain the 85% average will result in new hires being released from the program and their offer will be rescinded. CSX will provide a hotel room for the entire five weeks and lunch is provided on class days. New hires will receive $20 per day meal allowance starting day one of training. Roundtrip mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate between the hiring location and Atlanta, as well as mileage between the training center and hotel. On-the-job training begins immediately following the successful completion of training at the ATC.

Electrical Pier Technician – Curtis Bay, MD

Job Description

Job Summary
Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on export terminal equipment and operate loading and unloading equipment when necessary.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Diagnose and repair electrical component malfunctions
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to pier equipment such as lighting and heating, including both low voltage and high voltage repairs
  • Install and maintain electrical wiring and equipment such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), electrical equipment 12VDC to 13,000VAC, generators, switchboards, meters, lighting systems, electric welding machines, weighing and scale systems, heating/air-conditioning units, motor control systems and various drive unit transformers
  • Operate loading and unloading equipment such as overhead cranes, 100 ton coal car dumpers, ship loaders, conveyor belt systems and feeders, coal crushers and other equipment
  • Perform electrical inspection, construction, maintenance, and repair activities on power distribution equipment such as: floodlight towers, power poles, moveable bridges, generators, turntables, air conditioning units, and other fixed electrical facilities.
  • Install and maintain high and low voltage, overhead and underground wiring and equipment such as: switch heaters, control systems, conduits & cables, cross arms, pole mounted fixtures, transformers & capacitors, outdoor substation apparatus, air systems, fire alarm systems, motors & generators, yard/building power & lighting, heating systems, switchboards & meters, battery charging, systems, welding machines, and UPS systems.
  • Understand, troubleshoot, install, maintain, and operate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) associated with motor control systems
  • Install and maintain all classes of exterior/interior wiring for electric, power and roadway lights, including overhead lines, up to 15kv
  • Install and maintain electric systems and marine navigation lights.
  • Handle testing instruments for measuring voltage, current, power, insulation resistance, etc.
  • Work with power companies and other vendors to plan and complete job activities.
