About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced State Buyer specializing in Fruits and Vegetables to join our procurement team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing fruits and vegetables to meet the needs of our customers. You will play a critical role in supporting our mission by ensuring cost-effective procurement practices and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Specifically, You Will Be Responsible To

Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement procurement strategies for fruits and vegetables to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition.

Vendor Management: Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and growers. Negotiate contracts and terms to secure competitive pricing and quality.

Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and quality assessments of fruits and vegetables received, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate deliveries to ensure adequate supply while minimizing waste.

Compliance and Documentation: Ensure adherence to procurement regulations, policies, and documentation requirements. Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor performance.

Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and availability of fruits and vegetables. Recommend adjustments to procurement strategies based on market conditions.

Reporting: Prepare reports and analyses on procurement activities, vendor performance, and cost savings achieved.

What Youll Do

Review sourcing & buying plans for Regional & Local Vendors for fruits and vegetables.

Buying forecast to vendors to ensure optimum availability of stocks.

Market study to identify customer needs and sourcing the relevant assortment thereof.

Conduct regular market visits to better understand category implementations in stores & build upon competitor awareness.

What Youll Need

Bachelors degree in Agriculture (Mandatory)

Proven experience as a buyer or procurement specialist, preferably in the food industry with a focus on fruits and vegetables.

Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain effective vendor relationships.

Knowledge of procurement regulations and practices, particularly in the public sector (preferred).

Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software (e.g., SAP)
