The Role

As the Content Consumer Insights team, we work closely with business partners to inspire creative decision-making by providing rich insights into genres, content opportunities, audiences, and evolving content tastes. We strive to understand the underlying needs, motivations, and emotions that drive love for our TV shows and movies so we can help Netflix continue to create stories that will excite members around the world.
Within Content Consumer Insights, the Film pod focuses on all things related to movies on Netflix. This includes big-picture topics (e.g. understanding perceptions of our film offering) as well as title-specific work that spans the early stages of development through marketing and release. This is a high-impact role that will oversee a team of best-in-class researchers who are helping to shape Netflix films today and in the future.
What you will do:
- Manage a team of researchers who own the relationships with key film Content & Marketing executives and creators (across the entire live-action film catalog)
- Develop roadmaps, prioritization mechanisms, and overall ways of working that help guide the film insights team to deliver maximum business impact
- Represent the research and overall POV of the consumer in film leadership forums
- Understand the direction of the Netflix business at large, and cascade critical context to the team to enable them to do their best work
- Develop innovative approaches to conducting research at each stage of the content lifecycle (e.g. development, production, post-release, etc.), and help drive the team toward new ways of thinking
- Partner with the other managers in Content Consumer Insights to identify collaboration opportunities and help shape the direction of the Content Consumer Insights team overall
- Partner with Regional Consumer Insights researchers to understand and inform Netflix films at a global level
- Collaborate with partners from Finance & Strategy and Data Science to help inform broader business strategy

You have a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on research experience at a network/studio/streamer or market research agency; diverse experience across these areas is a plus
- You have 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring research teams

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $320,000 – $560,000.

We’re looking for someone to join the Consumer Insights (CI) team to deeply understand consumers and help spotlight the path forward for the teams we partner with. - Identify & prioritize high-impact research opportunities

Ratings Policy Manager
Netflix is releasing content at a pace and scale unlike any studio or broadcast channel in history: all around the world, at the same time for over 270 million members. With so many different titles to choose from across such a range of tastes and cultural standards, our members need the information and context to be able to tell at a glance that what they’re watching is appropriate for their household.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate leader for the Policy division of our Ratings and Partnerships team. The Ratings Partnerships Team is a center-of-excellence for maturity ratings, working closely with Content, Product, Public Policy, Communications, & Marketing groups at Netflix to connect our stories with millions of people worldwide.
In this role, you will chart the operational and executional strategy across Ratings Policy, leading a team of highly-skilled ratings policy strategists. These strategists are highly cross-functional ratings experts who manage content verticals and located across the globe. This team analyzes content at every point in its lifecycle: pre-greenlight, script stage, filming, editing, and go-live. This requires a level of expertise and knowledge of all types of content issues, as well as strong judgment, critical thinking and great communication skills.
This is a highly cross-functional role. You will work closely with teams within Product Metadata and Ratings – Metadata Innovation and Content Understanding, to develop and execute our global ratings strategy. You will also work with members of Legal, Marketing, Communications, and the broader Product organization, such as Consumer Insights, Operations, Globalization, and Engineering, to ensure we are providing accurate and locally relevant ratings and advisories to our members.
The ideal candidate is comfortable making decisions that can meaningfully scale across a large content slate but also that are appropriate in regions with highly nuanced content sensitivities and cultural perspectives. You are an inspiring and inclusive leader, with experience developing and coaching teams towards shared common goals, collaborating with multiple stakeholder teams, and leading through influence, all while demonstrating strong judgment in the face of ambiguity.
This role will report into the Director of Ratings and Partnerships and will be based in Los Angeles, California.
Key Responsibilities
- Subject Matter Expert. Lead a global team with expertise in maturity ratings and sensitive content. Drive business innovation and vision for these content areas, both internally (for our teams and workflows) and cross-functionally (across our stakeholder teams). Knowledge of, and adherence to, global ratings boards’ standards for movies, shows, games, and live events
- Operational Strategist & Project Management. Proactively identify business-critical issues and opportunities to improve how we develop, advise, and finalize maturity ratings at Netflix. Work closely with Content Understanding and Business Operations to ensure team workflows are yielding efficient and effective results.
- Team Leadership. Empower, support, and cultivate a flat organization of senior-level professionals. A natural team leader with a proven track record of articulating team purpose and priorities, and rallying teams around these. Take a hands-on approach to ratings and sensitive content challenges to better support them in their day-to-day.
- Resource & Capacity Planning. Plan and optimize team bandwidth across five content verticals with a robust slate of titles, ensuring adequate coverage and maximum impact. Contribute to long-term team planning and forecasting, anticipating roadblocks and volume spikes.
- Global & Regional Player. Ability to be an advocate for the specific needs of Ratings Policy bringing a global lens, striking a balance between scalability, localization, and highly nuanced content sensitivities and cultural perspectives to drive meaningful ratings and advisories for our members.
- Data Fluency. Partner with Metadata Innovation to further our operational metrics agenda and drive process improvements.

Program Manager, Talent Experience Operations

The Talent Experience Operations (TEO) team is primarily responsible for developing the Talent ecosystem. The broad composition of the team includes Lifecycle operations (all workflows across the candidate, employee and contingent talent journey), Data and Analytics, Technology strategy, and Global Programs like Benefits, Mobility, Employee Health, Accessibility, etc.

Netflix House is our permanent, always-on entertainment venue, where guests can step into their favorite stories and have IRL experiences, with the ultimate goal of increasing fandom for our members. We want these experiences, along with merchandise offerings, to help promote our titles and build them into title brands so they become part of the zeitgeist for longer periods of time and drive long-term value.
The Role:
We are seeking a strategic, user-centric leader to design the talent systems and workflows for Netflix House – ultimately supporting the launch of the first two Netflix Houses as well as overseeing the steady-state operational growth of multiple Netflix House locations. In addition, you’ll sit on our Talent Experience Operations leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the Netflix House business and organizational context, and help shape the multi-year vision and roadmap for Talent operations in alignment with the broader Talent/TEO strategy.
- Design and implement talent systems and workflows to support both on-site salaried and hourly employees, ensuring their operational needs are met efficiently and effectively.
- Lead the execution of talent experience operations projects that involve multiple workflows and cross-functional teams within the retail environment.
- Go beyond your domain expertise and establish yourself as an organizational leader, who is additive to our culture and an invaluable member of this community.
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in talent operations design and delivery in the retail sector.
- International retail experience in talent operations design and delivery is a plus, but not required.
- A strong systems thinker with the ability to prioritize effectively and build sustainable solutions from the ground up.
- Experience in enhancing user experience and operational effectiveness through user-centered design thinking, automation, offshoring, outsourcing, etc.
- Strong business acumen; skilled at operating in a complex, cross-functional, geo-distributed organization where collaboration and integration with other teams across various disciplines are essential.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams, across different cross-functional teams and multiple levels of seniority.
- Ability to synthesize data into useful insights and drive resulting actions.
This role is possible for remote, however it is preferred to be in Los Gatos, CA or Los Angeles, CA.
