Program Manager, Community Team
About the Team:
The Community team at OpenAI is dedicated to building relationships with early adopters—individuals who are pioneering and shaping compelling use cases for our technologies. We showcase these early adopters’ use cases and insights for their broader communities to learn from. Our team focuses on high-importance communities to OpenAI: artists, writers, creators, educators, and students.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly-skilled community program manager who can help our team realize a variety of programming and editorial. They’ll work closely with our arts, education, creator, and writing leads to build systems that can accelerate their ability to support early adopters.
Community building at OpenAI is unique. We’re not focused on followers or ROI. Conversations about our technology are dictated by the first people, often individuals, to share use cases and impressions. We’re dedicated to finding the people who are developing pioneering applications of AI and then showcasing their work to the larger artist community. In this role, we’re looking for someone who can work alongside our vertical leads to realize a variety of projects, including educational resources, product demos, prompts and challenges, cohort programs, and storytelling.
In order to build these offerings, you will work cross-functionally across our social, design, events and media team as well as our research teams. Having the capacity to communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders will be essential to realizing this role’s mandate of supporting these communities at scale.
This role is based in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
- Expand communities with care. Help our artist, education, creator and writer leads grow early adopter communities while maintaining trusted relationships and offering meaningful guidance.
- Build systems that can scale. Co-design and produce scalable systems for storytelling, guidance, events, and cohort programs from the ground up.
- Educate early adopters. Work with vertical leads to translate complicated technological advances to members of these communities from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from someone who has just discovered ChatGPT to artists or professors with technical chops.
- Shine a spotlight on early adopters. Help identify and celebrate talented early adopter artists, educators, and writers. Collaborate with our social and press teams to share their stories widely, and our events team to produce celebrations of their work around the world.
- Connect the community. Architect scaled community events with writers, educators, creators and artists as partners, including localized demos and screenings around the world.
- Scale impact through collaborations. Help the Community Team run as smoothly and effectively as possible as a unit, and in collaboration with other teams within OpenAI and with external contractors.
- Identify opportunities. Help the Community Team Lead refine our point of view around which community to support next, and forge early experiments in new cohorts, for example—a student ambassador program.
