Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking a technical individual to be part of the FPL Power Generation Solar Operations Team. Associate PGD Field Engineer shall be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the large scale universal solar and or battery facilities inside the state of Florida.
This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site/s are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptions and modifications. Engineers on the FPL solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar and battery facilities. This also includes performing routine task such as preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and root cause analysis. At times, Associate PGD Field Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the Panhandle FL Sites, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEM’s, Vendors and Contractors as required.
Engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred.

Position Specific Description
In the role of Solar & Storage Field Engineering Regional Site Manager III, you will assume responsibility for all operational facets on the maintenance and repair of the solar and/or energy storage plant. Your chief priority will be ensuring the team’s safety while concurrently focusing on maximizing performance and profitability per the operational framework. This will necessitate devising and executing strategies to elevate maintenance practices, diagnostic capabilities, and overall operational efficiency, resulting in heightened customer satisfaction and reduced service expenditures.
Additionally, your duties may encompass:
- Enforcing the implementation of Operational Safety Policy Instructions, ensuring field work aligns with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations, promoting sound employee safety practices, and fostering a culture of unparalleled employee safety.
- Actively engaging in and leading Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects.
- Recruiting, nurturing, retaining, guiding, and advancing resources at sites to uphold professional standards and foster team development within a matrix environment.
- Assuming accountability for all aspects of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and inverter availability.
- Collaborating closely with internal NextEra stakeholders to devise and execute operation-focused feedback and solutions for both planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development initiatives, and financial performance.
