Overview:

PayPal is hiring eligible and interested applicants for the post of Manager, Risk & Compliance Oversight at their Bangalore, Karnataka, and Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India locations. This role is part of the First Line of Defense Model Risk Management function and will be responsible for managing the governance process for all models built within the GADS organization and includes activities governed by the enterprise-wide Model Risk Management (MRM) standards and procedures and external regulatory guidance.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Implement a comprehensive model risk management framework for all AI/ML models developed in the GADS organization. This includes establishing policies, procedures, technical guidance, and controls to identify, assess, monitor, and manage our AI/ML model risks.
  • Ensure all AI/ML models are inventoried, documented, validated and monitored according to Enterprise MRM Policy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of newly developed AI/ML models: You’ll be a key partner in the MRM model reviews and validation exercises to ensure models are performing as intended and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with model developers and business users: Work closely with stakeholders to understand model purpose, design, and limitations, and communicate model risks effectively.
  • Manage the remediation efforts for findings from independent model validations.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and best practices: Keep our team informed about emerging trends and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

What do you need to bring-

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in quantitative area strongly preferred – including mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, economics or finance
  • 5+ years’ experience in AI/ML model development and/or validation / model risk management in consumer and/or business financing in the digital payments industry
  • 5+ years of Audit, Risk, Compliance, Regulatory, banking or similar experience with deep knowledge of model risk management guidelines set forward by regulatory agencies such as the Federal Reserve SR 11-7, OCC 2011-12 and the recently published EU AI Act.
  • Experience navigating within a three lines of defense model to address risk matters.
