The Land and Air Defense Systems (LADS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Specialist, Contracts within the Medium Range Air Defense (MRAD) program area. This candidate will play an integral role as a member of the program team. The portfolio is predominately comprised of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) for the production, integration, technical assistance, and sustainment of the NASAMS system.
In this role, you will be responsible for customer communication, contract management, change management, coordination of invoicing, fulfillment of contract requirements in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. You will need to utilize regular application of thorough business acumen and subject matter expertise to understand program performance requirements, provide guidance, and influence results in support of program and financial objectives. Additionally, the Principal Specialist, Contracts is required to work closely with Program Management leadership, the Office of General Counsel, and cross-functional peers in support of program gate reviews, program management reviews, business strategy sessions, proposal reviews, risk management activities, and all other contractual related matters affecting the portfolio.
The successful candidate will work with both internal and external customers to ensure programs’ performance, provide guidance, and influence outcomes to achieve desired results. The successful candidate should have a track record of success in FMS contracting including terms and conditions, contract execution and an excellent financial background.

What You Will Do
- Analyze Requests for Proposal (RFP), development of proposals, proposal reviews and coordination, negotiation, contractual agreements, all phases of contracts execution, as well as contract administration
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers to establish mutually beneficial relationships and influence business decisions
- Implement strategies to improve acquisition timelines and customer pace of contractual actions
- Investigate and resolve complex contractual matters by applying astute critical thinking, gathering detailed information, seeking creative contracting techniques, and proactively collaborating with relevant stakeholders
- Provide strategic advice and guidance on numerous contractual rights/obligations, regulations, and policy/procedure to mitigate risks and unauthorized changes
- Review proposals to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements, represent a balanced risk/opportunity posture and deliver a financially sound business case while meeting company policies and standards
