Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2025)
At Scale, our mission is to accelerate the development of AI applications. For 8 years, Scale has been the leading AI data foundry, helping fuel the most exciting advancements in AI, including: generative AI, defense applications, and autonomous vehicles. With our recent Series F round, we’re accelerating the abundance of frontier data to pave the road to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and building upon our prior model evaluation work with enterprise customers and governments, to deepen our capabilities and offerings for both public and private evaluations.
Example Projects:
- Ship tools to accelerate the growth of new qualified contributors on Scale’s labeling platform
- Build methodical fraud-detection systems to remove bad actors and keep Scale’s contributor base safe and trusted.
- Use models to estimate the quality of tasks and labelers, and guarantee quality on requests at large scale.
- Devise advanced matching algorithms to match labelers to customers for optimal turnaround and accuracy.
- Build methods to automatically measure, train, and optimally match labelers to tasks based on performance
- Create optimized and efficient UI/UX tooling, in combination with ML algorithms, for 100k+ labelers to complete billions of complex tasks
- Develop new AI infrastructure products to visualize, query, and explore Scale data
Requirements:
- A graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (Computer Science, EECS, Computer Engineering, Statistics)
- Product engineering experience such as building web apps full-stack, integrating with relevant APIs and services, talking to customers, figuring out ‘what’ to build and then iterating
- Previous Computer Science/Software Engineering Internship experience
- Track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale
- Experience building systems that process large volumes of data
- Experience with Python, React, typescript and/or MongoDB
- Be available for a Summer 2025 (May/June starts) internship

Product Designer, International Public Sector
Scale is growing rapidly, and joining the Global International Public Sector team is an opportunity to work on one of the most rapidly expanding teams at Scale. This team is responsible for generating, executing, and fostering Scale’s work outside of the United States. There are three core types of work involved:
- Building custom models
- Providing high-quality training data for research institutions building LLMs from scratch

Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years in product design post-graduation.
- Willing and able to travel to client sites in the Middle East for one to two weeks each month.
- Has a portfolio demonstrating at least one software interface design project.
- Excellent communication skills to work directly with customers.
- Experience managing the entire design lifecycle, from ideation to shipping and iteration.
- Experience designing B2B enterprise products, especially desktop interfaces like dashboards and internal tools.
- Proficiency in Figma, product thinking, interaction design, and visual design.
- General understanding of AI and machine learning for designing user interfaces for AI-powered applications.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Experience working at a startup or in a forward-deployed role. Alternatively, has shown initiative to work on side projects they are passionate about.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, another quantitative field, or equivalent strong engineering background.
- Proficiency in reading and writing Arabic.
- Experience designing AI products, ideally using Generative AI models.
Strategic Projects Associate
Scale’s Generative AI business unit is less than one year old and is currently seeing historic levels of growth. As a member of our operations team, you will be accountable for driving revenue by ensuring that Scale AI meets customer commitments in a timely manner while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will manage our supply operation funnel by building and running solutions, tools, and processes by working with a cross-functional team including Customer Operations, Product Operations, Product Managers, and many others.
You will be solving complex operational problems and deep dive to improve instructions and trainings on projects to maintain the highest quality standards. You may also be leading a team of tasker managers and acting as a liaison between customer needs and tasker communication and experience. The ideal candidate is scrappy, analytical, detail-oriented, empathetic, outcome-focused, a strong writer, and above all someone who drives and inspires results.
You will:
- Build and drive some of our most critical operational processes
- Own the day-to-day delivery of customer commitments
- Conduct data analysis in a structured way
- Create an effective feedback loop between the front line, product, strategy, and customers
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to improve processes for new and existing customers
Ideally you’d have:
- Strong technical background (a degree in computer science is ideal, and at minimum the role requires the ability to do data analytics using SQL or Python)

Machine Learning Research Engineering Intern (Summer 2025)
The goal of the ML team at Scale is to develop machine learning solutions advancing the company mission. Our current focus areas are in Generative AI, working on LLMs, post-training, RLHF, safety and capabilities evaluations, scalable alignment, and synthetic data. You’ll be working on a combination of deeply technical ML applications in production and cutting-edge research problems. Working at Scale will give you opportunities to work with our wide customer base which includes leading research teams and exposure to a wide range of problems within machine learning.
We are building a large hybrid human-machine system in service of ML pipelines for dozens of industry-leading customers. Our machine learning models form the basis for Scale’s expansion and future product strategy. We currently complete billions of tasks a month and will continue to grow to support more complex use cases and more advanced ML-powered products.
Example Projects:
- Research and develop machine learning solutions to assist humans in the loop.
- Aid in the creation of high quality ground truth data with speed and accuracy.
- Work with public Large Language models to benchmark and make custom versions for internal use cases.
- Take state of the art models developed internally and from the community, use them in production to solve problems for our customers and taskers.
- Take models currently in production, identify areas for improvement, improve them using retraining and hyperparameter searches, then deploy without regressing on core model characteristics.
- Work with product and research teams to identify opportunities for improvement in our current product line and for enabling upcoming product lines.
- Work with massive datasets to develop both generic models as well as fine tune models for specific products.
Required to have:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD Program with a focus on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision with a graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including: Python, Javascript, or similar
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently
- Be available for a Summer 2025 (May/June starts) internship
