Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations, including pelvic exams
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities within the specialty
  • Administer and prescribe chemotherapy and biotherapy per documented training and experience (at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months)
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific gynecologic oncology conditions
  • Conduct arterial puncture, blood gas sampling, and venous punctures
  • Debride and provide care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Manage urinary bladder catheterizations and foley catheter insertions
  • Assess and manage intrapartum, antepartum, and postpartum patients in both complicated and uncomplicated situations
  • Conduct colposcopies with or without biopsies
  • Evaluate and treat common vaginal infections
  • Interpret fetal heart monitor tracings
  • Insert and remove intrauterine devices (IUDs) and subcutaneous birth control devices
  • Initiate pharmacologic therapy for gynecologic and obstetric health needs
  • Perform endometrial, vaginal, and vulvar biopsies
  • Screen and refer patients for additional health problems, including high-risk pregnancies and suspected abuse
