Koch Fertilizer, LLC is now hiring a self-driven Operations and Instrumentation Technician to join the fertilizer shipping and storage terminal located in Vernon Center, MN. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining Instrumentation & Electrical control systems and will perform duties to ensure the safe, compliant, and reliable operations of the terminal.

*This is a flexible day shift position, Monday – Friday and may include some over-night travel to other terminals as well as overtime opportunities during the spring and fall fertilizer application season. The successful candidate will be able to report to on-call requests within 45 minutes of the terminal reporting location.

For this role, we anticipate paying $33.00 – $45.00 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.

Our Team

Koch Fertilizer, LLC owns network of storage and terminal assets across the Midwest responsible for storage and shipment of anhydrous ammonia to customers for agricultural and industrial use.

What You Will Do

  • Work with full life cycle of ammonia processes including refrigeration, gas fired heating, instrumentation, and PLC control systems, pumps, motors, and loading/unloading product
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and operate ammonia refrigeration, storage, loading/unloading systems
  • Train customers how to safely load anhydrous ammonia
  • Perform general housekeeping and grounds maintenance
  • Assist the Terminal Leader with compliance documentation
  • Manage calibration, installation, verification, and validation of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems
  • Troubleshoot and maintain I&E Control systems through inspections, tests, adjustments, and repairs of electric, electronic, mechanical, instruments and systems
  • Manage daily maintenance work utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Perform reliability-based maintenance, repair, or replacement of a variety of instruments including but not limited to, flow, level, pressure, temperature, vibration, variable frequency drives, electric motors, and analyzers
  • Improve, develop, and implement maintenance process improvements and efficiencies
 

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience OR training in the maintenance and troubleshooting electrical control systems
  • Experience reading electrical and piping circuit drawings
  • Valid Driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to be medically approved to participate in the respiratory protection and HAZWOPER programs
  • Ability to push/pull up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to grip up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights up to 100 ft
  • Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather
  • Ability to sit, stand or kneel as needed
  • Ability to wear full Level A Personal Protective Equipment while performing work duties

 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 3+ years of industrial electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s)
  • Knowledge of industrial test equipment (Hart Communicator, Multimeter, signal generators, etc.) with troubleshooting and electrical skills
  • Experience with a CMMS system (Ex: Maximo)
  • Associates degree in a technical field
  • Previous leadership experience

DEPCOM Power, an EPC firm and Koch Engineered Solutions Company, is seeking an EPC Technical Contracting Manager to join the team. In this role, you will lead and coordinate technical negotiations for the EPC contract scope across multiple projects, from contract award through project execution. You will serve as the primary point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external partners regarding all technical exhibits and related documentation. You will ensure that commercial and technical contract elements are aligned with DEPCOM’s risk philosophy and business strategy by understanding project risks and implementing appropriate mitigation approaches. You will also verify that all technical documents accurately reflect and conform to the contract’s terms and conditions. This position is responsible for the timely preparation, execution, knowledge transfer, and organized storage of all technical contracting documents, supporting smooth project delivery and contractual compliance.

This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

  • Compile and organize technical requirements for new contracts
  • Drive technical exhibits and EPC agreement provisions to meet project contracting schedule
  • Liaise between external parties and maintain professional, customer focused conduct always
  • Prepare and disseminate information to appropriate employees
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure conformity with contract exhibits
  • Identify technical non-standards and incorporate into risk an opportunity analysis
  • Up to 25% travel based on business needs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience reviewing technical contract exhibits
  • Previous construction industry and/or EPC experience
  • Experience presenting and communicating with internal and external clients
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Electrical engineering background
  • Experience in the utility scale solar and/or energy storage systems industry
  • Experience in contracting and executing utility scale solar and/or energy storage systems as a Project Engineer or Project Manager

For this role, we anticipate paying $125k – $150k per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
