What will you do?

 

  • Daily pickup of used glassware from labs, provide glass washing and sterilization services
  • Restock and maintain a constant inventory of clean and sterile labware in laboratory cabinets
  • Operation of industrial glassware washers, dryers, and sterilizers
  • Maintain good housekeeping in clean rooms at all times
  • Interact daily with team and scientific staff
  • Maintain glassware processing schedules and flexible to fast-paced changing priorities
  • Perform inspection of glassware for cracks, breaks, and scratches contacting the Supervisor/Manager/Team Lead with all pertinent information for replacement
  • Follow all customer SOP and safety guidelines as required
  • Collect monthly data for metrics reporting

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Experience

 

0-1 Year experience within a laboratory setting preferred.

Experience working in customer service is also a plus.

  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  •  Strong communication skills, with a desire to deliver excellent customer service. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientific’s values.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer locations and laboratory environments.
  • May be required to work independently at a customer site.
  • Extensive walking/standing for 60-70% of the day
  • Able to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently.
  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may be worn including lab coats, hairnets, and/or safety gloves.
  • Able to work the hours required to get the job completed.
  • Regularly use equipment including pushcarts
  • Regularly required to stand, walk and conduct manual material handling (twisting, bending, reaching, lifting, etc.) for prolonged periods.

Field Service Engineer II (ICPMS/TE)(Houston, TX)

Unity Lab Services (ULS), a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides coordinated solutions, instrument, and enterprise services to our customers. This Field Service Engineer is responsible for leading all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will provide complete services on Trace Elemental: ICP, ICPMSAtomic Absorption (AA) systems, including installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualifications. Our ideal candidate will be customer oriented, an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific in customer laboratories, and be eager to drive growth.

 

Location: The territory primarily covers Texas (Houston based). This position has not been approved for relocation.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance and qualifications.
  • Must be client-focused, working in conjunction with other ULS teams and Sales
  • Must be proficient with the use of customer management software to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks
  • Review reports and documentation from customers and inspect malfunctioning product to determine nature and scope of problem
  • Analyze review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
  • Analyze chemistry reports of technical problems to recommend modifications to eliminate future problems
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer
  • Develop and conduct training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Sciences or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer, particularly working with Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry systems e.g., analytical instrumentation, or 3 or more years relevant proven experience
  • Effective communication skills and ability to establish good customer rapport are essential
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation
  • Ability to work independently within a customer location
  • Must be available to travel overnight up to 70% within the territory or other areas as required

 

Essential Functions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift 50 Lbs with assistance on occasion.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 25-30 Lbs continuously throughout the day.

Summarized Purpose:

 

This role is Monday through Friday.

Second shift is 2pm-10:30pm.

 

Works with various teams (metrology, sample entry, stability, etc.) and assists in maintenance of laboratory systems. Supports daily lab operations under the direction of a senior staff member. Performs technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory policies and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Understands and conforms to all standard operating procedures, methods, and protocols applicable to assigned tasks.
  • Maintains compliant laboratory documentation. Ensures all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order.
  • Routinely operates laboratory equipment.
  • Communicates task status to laboratory manager or designee.
  • Performs daily work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
