As a Mergers & Acquisitions Senior Associate, you’ll join a team responsible for executing highly strategic acquisitions and investments to support the enterprise’s overall mission. The role positions experienced, motivated professionals on dynamic, high-performing teams to develop critical thinking, sophisticated financial modeling, and extensive communication skills within a an exciting and fast-paced work environment.  As a key member of our Corporate Development team, you will play an integral role in projects that have the potential to change the healthcare industry while gaining extensive exposure to key executive leaders throughout our organization, as well as to senior management of companies targeted for acquisition.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating active M&A targets to synthesize their business offerings, strategic value, and key drivers of revenues and profits to UnitedHealth Group Senior Executives & Board Members
  • Building and reviewing core financial statement projections, valuation models (DCF, transaction and trading comparables, LBO) and earnings per share accretion / dilution analysis
  • Managing the due diligence process on potential acquisition opportunities to validate the investment thesis and associated risks by coordinating across large internal diligence teams of functional subject matter experts
  • Identifying, researching and evaluating M&A industry trends, potential inorganic growth initiatives, and M&A target companies across healthcare sectors through special projects for executive leaders

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics
  • 4+ years of investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or transaction advisory services experience
  • Proven advanced financial modeling, forecasting, valuation and analytical skillset
  • Due diligence experience, particularly financial due diligence
  • Demonstrated expert level MS Excel capability
  • Ability to be flexible with travel and work schedule
  • Ability to work 5 days a week at our corporate headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN
  • Reside within a commutable distance to Eden Prairie, MN

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MBA or CPA
  • Experience with executive communication
  • Ability to lead and manage large M&A and diligence teams
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to learning a new skill set with an accelerated development curve
  • Proven ability to handle multiple, competing priorities

 

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. The Excelsior Regional Sales Manager will lead our team to grow small group and specialty sales.  They will be accountable for recruiting brokers, producing business, and meeting sales goals and managing office staff.  Our primary Medical Carriers in the market is UnitedHealthcare.  Primary Specialty Carriers include: Ameritas, Metlife, Principal, and UnitedHealthcare.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote Excelsior’s product portfolio to benefits brokers and help them increase their enrollment and average case size with all product lines
  • Ability to negotiate and close sales
  • Conduct in – depth market presentations for brokers and employers
  • Create and drive strategies for top producing agencies and Brokers
  • Collaborate with Sales Management regarding pipeline, persistency, market objectives and develop competitive strategies with specific Brokers/agencies
  • Educate sales support on quoting plan designs and product pre-implementation
  • Expectation to be in the field 51% or more of your time
  • Time management skills critical to success
  • Build solid relationships with carrier partners through frequent collaboration and solid product knowledge and advice

Required Qualifications:

  • Sales insurance license(s) must be maintained or obtained as required by state law in residential and non-residential states in your territory
  • Existing broker and / or consultant relationships in the marketplace
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Demonstrated ability to understand underwriting, financial and analytical details as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close sales
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid client and producer relationships, customer focused approach

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in sales in the insurance industry
  • Team lead, coaching or mentoring experience
  • Solid knowledge of all products sold in their market segment, including competitive products; applies independent judgment to recommend products for a given customer’s situation
  • Demonstrated relationship building and Influence
  • Demonstrated solid presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability for some overnight travel
  • Demonstrated ability to drive throughout the territory and spend time in the field
