To be eligible for the 26th State Eligibility Test (WBSET) 2024, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- General/EWS Candidates: Must have at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PWD, and Transgender Candidates: Must have at least 50% marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent.
- Candidates Awaiting Results: Can apply if they are in the final year of their Master’s degree or have appeared for their exams, but they must complete their degree with the required marks within two years of the SET result.
- Ph.D. Holders: If their Master’s degree was completed by September 19, 1991, they are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks requirement (from 55% to 50%).
- Subject Requirement: Candidates should take the SET in the subject of their Post-Graduation. If the subject is not listed, they may opt for the UGC NET/CSIR-UGC Test.
- Exemptions: Those with UGC/CSIR JRF before 1989 or who passed SET before June 1, 2002, are exempt from WBSET for Assistant Professor positions.
