Enterprise Technology Summer Associate (2025)

One of Bain’s most strategically important and fastest-growing practices, the Enterprise Technology (ET) Practice is foundational to Bain’s Digital Delivery Platform, called Vector™. We help clients realize the full business potential from their technology resources, investments, and assets. Our global network of partners have supported 1000+ technology engagements, including the world’s most complex global companies. In addition, Bain leverages a strong partner ecosystem for implementation & delivery services when required. Bain provides a full range of services to support a wide range of companies to transform and sustain their technology portfolio and organization, with primary focus on:

  • Strategy: Bain helps define client’s technology strategy to support wider company goals and ambitions. Once defined, Bain will often co-create with clients the roadmap to implement strategic vision.
  • Architecture: Bain assesses client’s technology stack and architecture and identifies short- and long-term modernization opportunities. Assessment can be on entire technology stack or specific topics like application portfolio, core systems, etc.
  • Operating model: often as part of Technology transformation cases, Bain develops a tactical plan to evolve a client’s operating model from waterfall setup to product-oriented delivery. This plan addresses key topics like Agile ways of working; org structure and accountabilities; talent engine; and management system.
  • Cost transformation: Bain maps and benchmarks client’s technology costs and develops a long-term plan to create a sustainable spend base that supports current and future tech investments.
  • Mergers & acquisitions: either during or after the M&A process, Bain will assess tech stack and IT organization of the two companies and build a plan for timely, cost-effective, and smooth integration.
  • Migration strategy: after all the transformation opportunities have been identified as part of strategy, architecture, operating model, and cost work, Bain co-creates the implementation plan and supports the successful roll-out to the rest of the firm.

The ET-affiliated Summer Associate internship is for MBA or advanced degree candidates with expertise and interest in tech-related topics who would like to focus earlier in their Bain career. Affiliated consultants, while still part of their home office consulting class, are staffed by the practice with a focus on ET cases in order to build deeper expertise.

The internship program starts with an intensive training to learn core consulting skills. You’ll work alongside Bain knowledge experts tackling complex business challenges and use your skills to help drive change in a range of organizations from global leaders to start-ups. Most SAs are amazed at the wealth of industry knowledge, client management and communication skills they acquire. You’ll also have the opportunity to secure a full-time offer to join Bain as an ET-affiliated consultant upon completion of your studies.

As an ET-affiliated Summer Associate, your analytical, interpersonal, creative thinking, business management and leadership skills will be called upon from day one.  Over the course of the summer, you will work directly with case teams and clients to solve business problems and drive change, being immersed in the responsibilities of a full-time Bain consultant, including…

  • Working closely with full-time consultants [who will provide coaching and mentoring]
  • Working with clients from Fortune 500 companies, midsize firms, non-profits and start-ups across a wide range of potential technology-centric topics – ranging from digital transformations, evaluation of emerging technologies, technology strategy development, architecture design and modernization, cloud, data and analytics, operating model transformation, agile and tech cost transformation, etc.
