About our Research Operations Team:
This collaborative team of experienced individuals provides a strong foundation for the operations and production of the Equity Research department. Our focus is on efficiency, process improvement and change management as we develop innovations, creative idea generation and problem-solving solutions. Our team challenges, supports, and elevates one another as well as the Analysts we work alongside as we build our overall platform and move our department forward.
Internship Location, Availability and Hours:
Located in our Milwaukee office, the intern must be able to work part-time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week, and full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week. We are seeking a student who can start in May 2025.
As a Business Coordinator Intern, you will:
- Play an integral role in the equity research process by working closely with Coordinators and Analysts
- Assist with department initiatives and projects including coverage lists, marketing materials, and data sourcing
- Work as part of a team of Equity Research Operations Coordinators
- Collect industry data and provide a deep level of expertise in sectors as well as the department focus
- Interact directly with analyst teams
- Complete administrative tasks, as needed

Client Specialist
As a Client Specialist, you will:
Provide exceptional client service and operational support for one or more Financial Advisors following a wealth management or portfolio management business approach.
- Responsible for client onboarding coordination, which includes managing Financial Advisor(s) prospect pipeline, assisting with proposal generation, preparing new account paperwork, opening accounts, transitioning new assets to Baird and establishing an ongoing communication/client service plan.
- Gain knowledge of and leverage partnership with Baird’s Corporate Resource Groups to provide the best wealth management solutions to clients.
- Answers all incoming phone calls and handles as appropriate. Manages client needs where possible and advises Financial Advisor of action taken.
- May schedule client appointments and/or conference room for appointments.
- Assemble/generate materials including paperwork and reports for client meetings.
- Understand and ensure business adherence with firm and financial industry regulatory policies.
- May manage FA and Team’s social media presence (website, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.).
- Maintain Client Relationship Management (CRM) system for Financial Advisor(s), as well as leverage the platform to manage the client relationship through mailings, reporting, e-mail tracking, and more, with the goal of implementing well-defined client service models.
- May organize and coordinate seminars and client events at the direction of Financial Advisor(s). Develops client lists, designs material and seminar/meeting content, coordinates PowerPoint presentations and follows through with client contact.
- Seek ways to enhance FA(s) business effectiveness and marketability.
- Initiates and completes all transactions required to fully service client accounts i.e. paperwork, correspondence, client request fulfillment and special projects as needed.
- May enter security orders including stocks, bonds, fixed income, options, annuities and other investment vehicle orders per Financial Advisors’ instructions or upon client’s verbal direction.
- May also provide back-up to other teams and the branch when necessary, as well as perform other duties and special projects as necessary.
- Proactively review investment opportunities on a daily basis & notify Financial Advisor(s) to take action on those opportunities with the goal of driving the Financial Advisors’ business. Specifically, this may include funds available/money line, maturing securities, reorg items, and previous days’ activities.

- 2+ years of prior industry work experience.
- Active Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam, Series 7, and Series 66 or Series 63 and Series 65 licenses.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to adeptly exchange ideas and information.

Compensation Information:
- $27.48 – $36.51 per hour*
- Bonus potential of up to 8.5% of annual compensation.

Transition Specialist
As a PWM Transition Specialist, you will:
Be responsible for transitioning veteran Financial Advisors and their support staff to Baird. This includes working with them from day of hire through to their independence in both new and existing branch settings. The position also extends to providing support to new branch openings and acquisitions.
- Build effective relationships with key partners to enhance collaboration and understanding of transition needs and processes.
- Provide the client with a seamless transition, ensuring proper account setup, while being cognizant of account features, preferences & managed setup to new accounts.
- Work with clients directly with minimal oversight from Financial Advisor.
- Utilizes knowledge of firm’s products, compliance, and processes to articulate the explanation for certain requirements and policies.
- Ensure team complies with branch procedures and compliance.
- Provide accurate and detailed instructions to Transition Process Coordinators regarding process and priority of accounts to be opened.
- Work with the Financial Advisor and client to rebuild and resume normal business processes.
- Provide back-up to other teams and branches, when necessary, as well as perform other duties and special projects as necessary.
- Anticipate and troubleshoot potential issues that may come up while on site. Identify and mitigate in a proactive and positive manner to meet client needs.
- Proactively seek inefficiencies in the transition process and communicate to the PWM Branch Integration Manager.

As a Wealth Planning Intern, you will:
- Gain exposure to Baird’s Wealth Planning Team processes, structure, and expertise and insight into how they are leveraged to support Baird’s Financial Advisory teams nationwide
- Support the Wealth Planning Team’s Planners directly in plan construction and presentation of analyses to relevant parties
- Engage with each member of the Wealth Planning Team for continued career exploration and professional development
- Build relationships with other members of Baird’s broader Wealth Solutions Group
- Execute BairdWeb content review and conduct necessary enhancements to Baird’s internal site as applicable
- Provide general processes support and management of the team’s workflow queue
- Perform additional duties and assist with projects as assigned
