Trainee, Merchandising

JOB PURPOSE:

The Dior Corporate Trainee participates in a program designed to identify and develop future talent for the organization. By working closely with their assigned Department, the Trainee supports the organization’s short and long-term objectives through day to day administrative and long-term project work. Trainees across departments will collaborate to develop initiatives to improve business results, and present a project to the Executive Leadership Team. The Merchandising Trainee is responsible for supporting the department in managing the business strategy for the Americas Boutiques. Main responsibilities include reporting and recaps, product tool creation, competitive market analysis, supporting the buying process, and distribution in accordance with total company vision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Merchandising Functions

  • Review and support running weekly sales reports: Generate a variety of Excel based reports; store and business recaps, ensure tracking to sales targets
  • Manage and follow up daily on product shipping and deliveries
  • Communicate and partner closely with Retail teams to manage day to day product inquiries and present business updates on Retail calls
  • Participate and share new ideas to drive business strategy
  • Assist with weekly stock rebalances to improve sales and sell-thru
  • Monitor and Track Trunk Show Samples
  • Analyze the market and prepare comprehensive recaps on competitive pricing, trends, market activities, and events monthly
  • Support the creation of seasonal launch tools: buy book creation, manage photo and selling tools, ensure client orders are filled accurately, strategically adjust allocations to match reservation needs
  • Assist team during 4 seasonal Buying Markets:
    • Support compilation of premarket analysis: by store and classification. Find opportunities within each region & present strategy to Managers.
    • Remain positive, energetic, and organized while meeting tight deadlines during high-paced and demanding buying sessions
  • Review sales results on Advertising campaigns, catalogue and product highlights

Reporting Functions

  • Prepare and provide analysis on fast/slow sellers and sell-thru report
  • Prepare and compile seasonal qualitative collection feedback
  • Hindsight end of season (EOS) product analysis and recaps
  • Support Merchandising team on weekly reporting across categories and ad-hoc analysis as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time, 8 Month Program
  • Must be available M-F, 9-6pm, Friday work from home
  • At least 6 months of prior Merchandising/Buying work or internship experience, luxury retail Women’s experience preferred; strong working knowledge of Retail Math and Retail critical metrics
  • Strong knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint, proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs

 

Job responsibilities

Operations Associate, 5th Avenue Flagship

The Operations Associate is responsible for maintaining the store’s inventory and stock areas as per Company standards, minimizing stock loss, maintaining organized records, ordering supplies, adhering to housekeeping standards, handling merchandise appropriately, controlling expenses, and safeguarding company assets by following proper inventory control procedures

  • Ensure that all shipping and receiving functions that affect the store inventory are processed accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain an orderly and neat stock and receiving area as well as the general maintenance of the store, ensuring merchandise is properly ticketed and sensored
  • Ensure the accurate processing of all inbound freight, returns-to-vendors (RTV’s), chargebacks, transfers and damages based on Company policies and procedures

Manager, Visual Merchandising

Responsible for communicating, implementation planning, and maintaining visual presentation direction and standards in Dior retail locations. Partnership development with key contributors within a network of remote doors is fundamental as a VM Manager

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a network of support with boutiques so that VM efforts (installs, rotations and maintenance) are a team effort. This includes preplanning your efforts so that all key holders are aligned: Store Directors, Category Managers, and Operations.
  • Implement visual updates, whether in person or via remote support, which can include Collection launches, window changes, business related rotations, and in-store event set ups – Some may require overnight works
  • Cultivate a culture where brand integrity is everyone’s responsibility and develop a structure or system for display maintenance with great attention to detail and keeping all teams accountable.
  • Troubleshoot and address merchandising concerns to accommodate business needs and/or corporate directive that may require adaptations to guidelines.
