The Content Accounting team is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of content and content-related transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

QUALITIES WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

  • Fundamentals of Accounting – We’d like you to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting backed by a Postgraduate degree in accounting like a Chartered Accountancy degree/CPA or equivalent. Some work experience in accounting working in a large multinational audit firm is required.
  • Attention to detail + love for data – We pride ourselves on producing high quality work, scrutinizing important numbers and formulas for accuracy, and using spreadsheets and system data to reconcile accounts and solve problems; we like our accountants to love Excel pivot tables and be unphased by large data sets.
  • Enthusiasm and quick learning – Enthusiasm for designing and building new accounting systems and making improvements to existing systems. Prior work with contract review (revenue, leases, or other complex documents), data entry and analysis, research, and other problem-solving tasks is helpful, but we understand you probably have never done content accounting. That’s OK with us because we’ll teach you as long as you’re excited about learning.
  • Curiosity and passion – Our team members ask probing questions, challenge the status quo, make changes to improve processes, and have fun while doing it all; positive attitude and never settling for “good enough” are key, along with fitting into our unique company culture.
  • You have strong communication skills (both written and oral) and are viewed as a strong cross-functional business partner.
  • Industry experience is highly preferred, but not essential to the position if you are enthusiastic about the position, have a strong accounting background and be comfortable navigating technical accounting guidance under Indian GAAP (with a strong understanding of the differences to U.S. GAAP).

MORE DETAILS / RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Based in our Mumbai office, reporting to the management team in Content Accounting.
  • Part of the team responsible for the financial integrity of the company’s content commitments, assets (capitalization), liabilities (payments), and expenses (amortization).
  • Set up (in proprietary contract management system) and accounting of content license contracts, with focus on license fee uploads and payment term assignments.
  • Review and documentation of content license agreements, which includes interpreting contractual terms and understanding the application of our accounting policies.
  • Accounting for owned content produced for India.
  • Evaluating impact of content contracts on local Indian GAAP financial statements and recording adjustments for the same.
  • Invoicing for intercompany revenues,  tracking of receipts and reconciliation with ledger balances
  • Drive process improvements and contribute to exciting projects.
  • Maintain cross-functional relationships, including the content finance/international finance, tax, legal and acquisition organizations.

Administrative Assistant – India PR (APAC) Based in Mumbai, India  

 

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to support India PR. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on timeliness, organisation and an unwavering attention to detail at all times.

 

The PR team interacts with internal teams and external partners – sometimes across multiple countries and timezones. Therefore, a high level of organisation and strong communication skills are critical. Someone who is curious, mature, moves and learns quickly, demonstrates significant initiative, and inherently exercises good judgement will be most successful.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Schedule meetings, internally and externally, across regions/time zones

Promotional Assets Coordinator, Launch Operations

The Role

This team will be part of a broader operational hub strategy and manages the launch readiness process, focusing on the on-service promotion of our content, by combining rigorous project management and risk mitigation with a strategic, member-first mindset.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Coordinator with a passion for operations in service of delivering promotional material for Netflix titles to our global members, at scale.   • You will own and be accountable for some of the critical workflows, which affect how the Member views the titles from across the globe. While multiple teams (internal and external) are responsible for creating and delivering assets, you will be responsible for ensuring those assets are coming in at the right time to support the predetermined launch date that all of your stakeholders are aligned to.
  • You will help shape and redesign existing workflows to help accelerate the efficiency of our operations in line with key business objectives for our group.
  • Partner with internal and external teams (vendors) to ensure operational momentum and seamlessness across launches.
  • Exercise sound judgement and risk mitigation to create/modify delivery and launch plans including use cases that fall outside the norm.

Associate, CPS&O

The Role

Members can play, pause, and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. The Content Programming Strategy & Operations (CPS&O) is looking for an Associate to join its India team in Mumbai. CPS&O is the team in charge of the analytical efforts and strategic thinking behind the content programming strategy, working across content buying and original content decisions of India. The team works cross-functionally to translate the incredible amount of data at Netflix into problem-solving and strategic decisions.  This person will have a high degree of visibility with senior management which uses the team’s analysis and insights to inform important business decisions, such as our content performance analysis and programming strategy. This role will be located in Netflix’s India office and report to the lead of India CPS&O team. Responsibilities:

  • The individual will focus on our non-Hindi local content (e.g. Tamil, Telugu, and other local languages) strategy & operations
  • The individual will be a key thought partner and go-to person for the India Content Team focusing on commissioning and licensing non-Hindi local content (in addition to being a thought partner for various cross-functional stakeholders)
  • Analyze title performance and the ongoing trend of key content metrics on the slate level, develop audience insights and a deep understanding of the industry to build a programming and resourcing strategy across content and production
  • Conduct content deep-dives and compile thoughtful post-mortem analyses to determine areas for optimization and improvement
  • Conduct analysis of key business drivers, trends, and performance indicators, preparing deal and valuation analyses (model building, scenario testing, etc.) in partnership with the Creative and Business Affairs teams
  • Working cross-functionally with other teams globally as well as Finance, Product, Marketing, and Consumer Insights teams

Qualifications:

  • An avid consumer/follower of at least one of Tamil or Telugu long-form video content (films, series, non-fiction, etc.); native (speaking) fluency in either of these languages is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a top management consulting firm, investment bank, private equity, hedge fund, and/or media/entertainment/tech company in a strategy/business development/analytical role. We are looking for candidates who have worked in a highly-demanding environment in which they’d have managed multiple stakeholders and performed complex analytics mixed with simple/digestible communication of the same
  • Candidates are required to be highly analytical and be effective communicators
  • They must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, focus on generating results and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics. Candidates must be motivated, disciplined, flexible, and be able to work effectively autonomously
  • High aptitude and enthusiasm for complex (often highly ambiguous) problem solving and utilizing financial modeling and analysis (including strong Excel skills)
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and analyses
  • Adept at writing, facilitating and presenting analyses
