What you need to bring:

• 5+ years experience building successful production software systems.
• Proficient in back-end development using Java EE technologies (e.g. Java language, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, etc.).
• Strong OOP skills, with ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs.
• Experience with HTTP, REST API’s and competent designing and building web services/microservices in a commercial setting.
• Cognizant of SQL and other/NoSQL/modern database and storage technologies. Desired understanding of Oracle, JDBC and ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate).
• Experience with Design Patterns, MVC and frameworks (e.g. Spring).

Job Duties: Develop and implement machine learning algorithms to improve our Generative AI solutions focusing on NLP/LLM areas. Identify and build the best performant solutions/models to solve specific business problems. Conduct applied R&D to experiment with fine tuning of generative AI models for PayPal’s data sources and evaluate trade-offs in performance / cost vs equivalent vendor or open-source capabilities. Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to optimize our Generative AI solutions to align with overall business goals.
