Job Summary:
We are seeking a pharmaceutical or pharmacokinetics scientist to join Vertex for an internship experience in the Biopharmaceutics group in the Data and Computational Sciences department. We are looking for an exceptional candidate to assist with benchmarking of physiology-based biopharmaceutics modeling (PBBM) of patients following gastrointestinal surgery. The key tasks for this position include synthesizing literature physiology data on the impacts of gastrointestinal surgery, evaluating the use of PBBMs to predict oral absorption before and after surgery for different types of small molecule drugs, and communication of these results to the project team.
Key Responsibilities:
- The candidate will be expected to work with their mentor to perform a literature review on the physiological impacts of gastrointestinal surgery
- With guidance from their mentor, the candidate will be expected to perform physiology-based biopharmaceutics modeling using GastroPlus software
- The candidate will be expected to clearly communicate trends in the performance of the PBBMs on different types of compounds, such as based on ionizability or solubility
- The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- The candidate must be proactive in seeking guidance when needed
- The candidate will be required to regularly present their progress in formal and informal settings to colleagues
- The candidate will interface with colleagues in other departments, such as Formulation Development or Clinical Development, as needed
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree (or in progress) or Ph.D. (or in progress) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacokinetics, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field with some experience in computational research
- Proven technical proficiency and demonstrated skill in planning and interpreting modeling work
- Effective communicator (written and verbal), especially within area(s) of expertise
- Exposure to physiology-based biopharmaceutics modeling software (e.g. GastroPlus, SimCYP, gPROMS Formulated Products, PK-Sim) preferred but can be taught
- Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States
- Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2025

Vertex Spring 2025 Co-op, Real World Analytics (Boston, MA)
Structured under Biometrics, among many other responsibilities, Real World Analytics (RWA) is responsible to in-house database stewardship, providing analytic support to real-world evidence generation, developing dashboard, and maintaining RWA Vnet page. The RWA Co-op will work with RWA team and is responsible for projects that assigned by the team manager. The Co-op will have opportunity to learn and leverage Vertex in-house licensed databases to support team’s research needs and activities, such as explore and investigate methodologies that would apply to real-world evidence generation research projects, as well as put together a tutorial database insight book that will give researchers better understanding of real-world data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the search of methodologies that related to the assigned projects.

Qualifications:

Congress Operations Manager (remote)
The Congress Operations Manager will support the Congress Leads and serve as the project manager for multiple congresses across disease areas, This role will also lead medical booth planning, design and build for multiple congresses across disease areas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides project management support for multiple congresses across disease areas
- Tracks congress timelines and ensure the working groups for each meeting delivers on the required elements on the planning process (booth design and build, congress overview decks, attendance lists, executive summaries)

Our corporate data science, data engineering and product team is looking for a data scientist with experience in Healthcare Real-World Data (RWD), machine learning, statistics, and a real passion for addressing business needs through data analysis and solutions. You will work on a highly collaborative, centralized team of data scientists, engineers, and strategists to deliver analytical insights and data products that drive value and impact for our highest priority business needs. You’ll work side-by-side with internal partners across development, clinical, commercial, and general and administrative areas to develop creative solutions that contribute meaningfully to our business and patients.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a centralized team of data scientists/engineers/strategists and cross-functional partners to conceptualize, develop, and deploy data science solutions for highest priority business problems and to design and execute A/B tests to quantify the value of these solutions
- Be the primary technical lead focused on creative use of diverse data sources to solve business problems, such as clinical operations data, Electronic Health Record (EHR), insurance claims data, and/or other provider and patient-level data

Minimum Qualifications:

- Domain knowledge in clinical data, Real-World Data (EHR, insurance claims, e.g. Clarivate DRG, MarketScan, IQVIA, TriNetX, Optum, Premier), and/or related data sources
- Expertise in programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL, JavaScript), version control, and other data science related tools (e.g. D3, AWS, dbt)
- Extensive experience with statistical/analytical methodologies and machine learning algorithms (e.g. classification, regression, clustering, feature selection/engineering, deep learning, time-series analysis, network analysis, hypothesis testing)
- Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical staff in a fast-paced environment to come up with solutions/algorithms and create working prototypes

Preferred Qualifications:
